Born in Houston and based in LA, Jon Gentry (he/they) is a playwright/performer whose art seeks to resituate the physical and spiritual meanings of “home.” Formative years in Boston and San Francisco infuse his art with a tri-coastal (Gulf, East, & West) perspective on Black queerness in the USA.

His award-winning solo work has been presented at Hollywood Fringe, Provincetown Theater, PlayGround, OutFront Theatre, WeHo Pride Arts, LA LGBT Center, and One Institute. He went viral voicing Preston Garvey in "Fallout 4," with his memorable (and meme-able) performance about rebuilding community post-apocalypse.

As a teaching artist, Gentry has collaborated with The Moth, Young Storytellers, Get Lit, and the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory. Invited to the inaugural GLAAD Black Queer Creative Summit, Jon is devoted to creating space from scratch through unapologetic, innovative storytelling.
